Cantrips are spell-like enchantments that require no mana to cast and have minimal utility.

First Tier Cantrips

First tier cantrips require knowledge of two spells of the appropriate spellbook.

Aether Spheres

Guildmaster Gauthus smiles at you and traces a glowing sigil in the air. After several moments of instruction on creating the sigil, he pauses to explain the use of the cantrip.

"The Aether Spheres cantrip will produce glowing orbs of light that you can juggle to impress others. Or, if you cast the cantrip on another, the orbs will surround them for a brief moment."

Water Globe

"The Water Globe cantrip creates a globe of water or, during the winter months, a snowball. You can use this to refresh yourself after a long journey or hard fighting. Some pranksters even throw these at each other for harmless fun. If you gesture at a person other than yourself after preparing the cantrip, you will cause the ball to be directed towards him or her along weak Aethereal streams, much like a targeted spell."

notes: Water balls can become snowballs with crystalize ice, and snowballs melt into water balls with burning touch. Compatible with the Pattern Hues cantrip.

Burning Touch

"The Burning Touch cantrip will cause flammable items you touch to burst into flames. Perfect for lighting your pipe when you can't find your flint."

Electric Charge

"The Electric Charge cantrip will send a tiny jolt through the person you GESTURE at, making his hair stand on end. If he has hair, that is. Or, if you gesture at an item, it will imbue that object with an electric charge, giving the next person who picks it up a surprising jolt."

Air Blast

Second Tier Cantrips

Second tier cantrips require the caster to be at least 10th circle, know a specific first tier cantrip, and know a specific spell from the appropriate spellbook. The required spell is usually related to the cantrip's effect.

Aethereal Image

(Requires Ethereal Shield)

Guildmaster Gauthus smiles at you and traces a glowing sigil in the air. After several moments of instruction on creating the sigil, he pauses to explain the use of the cantrip.

"The Aethereal Image cantrip creates a small glowing sphere of ethereal energy that floats in the air for a short while, transforming into a variety of shapes and colors. This is perfect for entertaining commonfolk."

Crystallize Ice

(Requires Frost Scythe)

"The Crystallize Ice cantrip can be used to create ice crystals or harden existing ice, repairing damage from melting. This is particularly of use when cast upon the result of a Frost Scythe spell, as the cantrip will extend the time before the scythe melts."

Reinforce Stone

Will O Wisp

(Requires Arc Light)

Third Tier Cantrips

Third tier cantrips require the knowledge of one other cantrip of the appropriate element, and the caster must be at least 20th circle and have at least 120 ranks of Primary Magic skill.

Pattern Hues

"Pattern Hues is a complex but rewarding cantrip that allows you to alter the color of the physical manifestations of certain spells. When cast, it surrounds you with a colored aura that lends its hue to spell patterns that are compatible with its own. You may gesture at yourself to either select a random color or, if you already have an aura in effect around you, dispel the one that is currently affecting your spells."
